Zara en de Magische Kicksen

Zara (9) really wants to play football, but doesn’t dare show her skills at the selection of her asylum seeker centre’s football team, because her jealous brothers are key figures in the team. When Zara is given magical football shoes by Engeltje, she can suddenly play like a pro. And that’s perfect timing, since the finals of the big football tournament are in a week. Unfortunately, the rumors of the star player and her shoes also reach the ears of less savory types, like a football agent and his crony.

The six-part series Zara and the Magical Football Boots was recorded this summer in six different asylum seekers’ centers. Aside from well-known lead actors and the children of the centers play roles as well, both in the foreground and behind the scenes. The series was initiated by Mirjam Marks, co-produced by VPRO media company and Pristine Film, in collaboration with De Vrolijkheid foundation and Cinekid.

Short project summary

Everyone contributed in return for minimum pay. The series Zara and the Magical Football Boots has its premiere at the festival, is made for broadcaster VPRO, produced by pristine Film and was initiated by Mirjam Marks, resulting from a collaboration between Cinekid and foundation De Vrolijkheid.
